Roy Searle Helbush, 70, of Pahala died May 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was the owner of Sea Mountain Coffee Co. in Pahala and a U.S. Air Force veteran. Services to be held at a later date. Survived by son, Tyler (Stephanie) Helbush; daughter, Liza (John) Wäcker; sister, Carol Erwin; four grandchildren; one niece. Lillian Tsutami Masuhara, 92, of Hilo died April 17 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Aiea, Oahu, she was a homemaker and member of the Taishoji Soto Mission Kyodan and Fujin Kai. Private services held. No koden (monetary gifts). No flowers. Survived by sons, John (Charlene) Masuhara, Myles (Linde-Lee) Masuhara, both of Hilo; daughters, Karen Higuchi of Aiea, Cora Sakai of Hilo; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Robert William Perreria Sr., 94, of Hilo died April 29 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired supervisor for the former Hawaiian Telephone Co., member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Big Island Portuguese Club, Francis Counsel #573 Young Men’s Institute, Holy Name Society and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Visitation 8:30–10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hilo. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m.; burial to follow at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Survived by son, Robert “Bob” (Cheryl) Perreira Jr. of Hilo; daughters, Janifer (Paul) Davis of San Antonio, Colette (Tom) Colby of Kelso, Wash.; brother, Donald Perreira of Hilo; sister, Ruby Carvalho of Hilo, brother-in-law, John Kim of Hilo; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. Lula Lemon Pete, 89, of Honokaa died April 12 at Hale Ho‘ola Hamakua. Born in Salisbury, Md., she was a real estate agent for A&H Realtors. Private services to be held. Albert “Al” Nobel Snook, 88, of Hilo died May 6 at the Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Tahlequah, Okla., he was the owner and contractor of Snook Home Repair, a U.S. Army WWII European Theater veteran and a member of the Foresters, VFW, American Legion, Royal Order of Moose and Elks BPOE. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Monday at Dodo Mortuary Chapel, Hilo. Additional services will be held in California. Casual attire. Survived by life partner, Joanne Ellison; sons, Larry Snook and Jerel Snook; stepdaughter, Kathleen Ellison; brother, Marvin Snook; 58 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. John “Johnny Cab” “Mettler” Lake Tinsman III, 40, of Hilo died May 5 at Hospice of Hilo Pohai Malama Care Center. Born in Denver, he was a chef, appliance technician and former member of the Hawaii Army National Guard. No services. Survived by daughter, Maria Tinsman of Louisville, Ga.; mother, Marilyn Yamamoto of Las Vegas; sisters, Julie Tinsman of Yamhill, Ore., Jenny Yamamoto and Jamie Yamamoto, both of San Diego; and hanai brother, Bill Stockmaster Jr. of Hilo.
